A happy place only if you come in early enough to not have to wait in line. We were there on a weekday 10min after opening and were the last ones to get a table without wait. The pancakes were fluffy and soft, quite well done, however, they smelled strongly like egg and this was not the way I like my pancakes. Also, when we were there, well above half the people "eating" there were taking pictures and filming all around the place. So guests were standing up and walking around all the time to make sure their social media following was aware they had eaten those happy pancakes.
Amazing Pancakes. Exceeded every possible expectations. Pancakes are my favourite foods, and I have eaten them in so many places and countries - and these were by far one of my favourites ever. Also loved the ambiance of the place, and the hidden bathroom behind the bookcase. We underestimated how busy it would be and had to wait just shy of an hour for a table. Next time we will make sure to make a reservation, or some at a less peak time.
Not to hate on Japanese pancakes, they are very fuwa-fuwa (fluffy) and delicious and airy and not too sweet, but... I really do prefer thick classic pancakes. While the souffle-like texture does make it light and easily enjoyed, it lacks the weekend breakfast vibe that you get from traditional pancakes. More like an afternoon tea thing.
Very clean and the staff were attentive.
Pancakes are a tad pricey but delicious and fluffy and a bit eggy
souffle pancakes with fresh ingredients, and house recipe. Make a reservation or be ready to wait between 15-30 mins at any point of time.
Loved the atmosphere, food & service. If you want to try souffle pancakes, this is a lovely cafe. They have savoury & sweet options on the menu, so come hungry!
By far the best pancakes I have tried in the world. They don't look fill but you will struggle to finish it all. So fluffy and tastes amazing. I asked for an extra dollop of ice cream as most just come with cream
The pancakes were very delicious and fluffy!! There were also many toppings to choose from and the staff was very polite and friendly! Beware, it does take 20-30 minutes to prepare the pancakes and there was also a waiting list hanging outside. We went at around 12h30 and we didn't have to wait, but just keep that in mind ☺️
Great pancakes and customer service. Close to the crossing and easy to find. Just the plain pancakes are awesome and value for money. Highly recommended.
The best pancakes I've ever had in my life. They have an extremely nice and intimate restaurant, with a very diverse menu (all pancakes, almost, so it's limited to being within that category.) The employees looked neat, and the place was tidy and clean. The roof was a little short if you're a foreigner, but you won't have any troubles unless you're extremely tall, or enjoy spacious roofs. This is one of the many things I'll miss about Japan, and might just be my favourite restaurant so far from my trip there.
Thankfully there was no queue when we arrived at about 5pm. Perfectly baked pancakes with scientific instrument precision, as the staff were constantly checking the baking process with digital infrared thermometers. I am guessing the secret is in using Hokkaido fresh milk, the pancakes are amazingly fragrant and melts in your mouth. Added vanilla ice cream to indulge further. Portions are generous and each serving is good for 2 persons, tea time. Definitely not to be missed if you are in the area, especially after a good walk from Harajuku JR station.
A Happy Pancake was an excellent place to have a relaxing and delicious brunch! We arrived and there was an incredibly long line ahead of us. The restaurant was small but well spaced and the line actually moved along quite rapidly. We were 32nd on the list and seated within 45 minutes (given the popularity of the restaurant we were pleasantly surprised). Our waiter was attentive and spoke a sufficient amount of English. As far as the meal, I am not generally a fan of pancakes but these were different from your typical pancakes, much lighter and fluffier! They had options for whole wheat and regular pancakes with sweet and savory sides. Overall cute place and tasty food right in the crazy Shibuya area.
Even though their closing time is at 8.30pm, you need to come earlier at about 7.30 before the last order. I had to come a second time as I came too late the previous day. It was really worth the trip. The souffle pancake was airy and doesn't really have an eggy taste to eat. I had a very fully dinner before this and I still manage to finish a plate by myself. The white cream on the chocolate pancake was the best topping ever.
Maybe it's because I've never had Japanese pancakes before but they were divine! Super light and airy, and ours were tiramisu flavored. There were two types of cream, a light whipped cream and a more buttery one, and then you pour a warm, coffee syrup on top. The drinks were also quite good with a rich latte and hot chocolate that tasted like they melted whole chocolate into whole milk. Only downside? Just a little pricey... Otherwise, loved it!
Get in early because it takes a minimum 20 minutes for the pancakes to make once ordered. Fortunately, this place opens at 9am where others open later and as well as the food being visually eye-opening, they take amazing. Highly recommended the berry one and I should mention, the toilet is hidden behind a sliding book case!
Fairly good place for an unusual pancake but not a “must do” in Shibuya.
Cute little store above ground level, small entryway could be easy to miss. Large servings definitely a great sugar fix. The selection on offer has something for everyone, including some savory options. Chilled water freely available via self serve is handy. Very friendly staff. Average prices from 1200/1500 yen but that is value for money considering the flavour and size.
These pancakes were scrumptious - a mix between American-style pancakes and a soufflé is the best description I can think of. A delicious treat!
Pancakes like none other we've ever tried before! Have to queue to get a table, could be upto an hour but it's worth the wait! The pancakes are the wobbly Japanese variety and if you like pancakes these need to be on your list of places to try if you're in Tokyo!
Take the stairs if people are waiting for the elevator to beat them in the queue.Delicious fluffy pancakes! Cute spot. You will wait in line since this is a popular location so be willing to be patient.English menu available. (I recommend looking at the menu while you wait so you can order as soon as you sit).Loved the bookshelf door to the restroom!
The infamous fluffy pancakes really are soft and fluffy. I had the tiramisu flavour which came with 3 pancakes, mascarpone, whipped cream, chocolate sauce and espresso. I really wanted to finish it but was too full. The servings are quite big. This restaurant is upstairs and easy to miss so look out for the A- sign.
Great environment, very cool design (very impressed by the toilet door which is disguised as a bookshelf). Nice pancakes too with many choices of toppings.
Fluffiest pancakes I've ever had. Great staff and decor. Very relaxing and enjoyable, highly recommend this lovely place.
It has an English menu and some of the staff can speak English so it's easy to communicate for foreigners. The pancakes were delicious made with top quality ingredients!!!!
Loved the pancakes!! Must try!! Best in the world. Fluffy and light but rich.
Great pancake place! Very busy, because they are really good. Both the salty and the savory choices are excellent. Prices are normal for Shibuya, and service is excellent. A really nice choice for breakfast or brunch. Definitely recommended!
Delicious pancakes. It can be quite busy, but later at night it's pretty quick to get in there and get your food. The staff are very nice and there is an English menu available.
Okay, by far the best pancake?! Their signature original pancake is really fluffy and mildly sweet which is just perfect! Also, the ambience is quite cozy.
Not as good as I expected. I tried the Plain type but it was a bit dry and not that fluffy. If you want a pancake eatery with diverse menu and affordable price (compared to the others), here is a nice-to-try place. But if you want a mouth-watering pancake dish, hmmm not really sure.
Always a great experience. Tried their special Pumpkin Souffle Pancake and Milk Tea pancakes. A little too sweet but Delicious!!!I always like ordering the Tiramisu pancakes, but tried something new.
Yummy pancakes and glad we tried them as they are very different to others I've had before. We were lucky as it was deadly quiet due to Corona so we got a table easily. The toilet behind the bookcase is cool too...but it was just a little bit shallow. The service was good but we had better service in less touristy places and the toilets were a bit smelly...so glad we tried but we won't be back.
Didn't disappoint though not easy to locate being a soufle they are quite eggy in flavour
We arrived at opening time, and got a table. The waitress said the pancakes take a while to cook, but ours were out pretty quickly. I had fruit and cream, and my friend had the strawberry special. We were both so impressed with how light and fluffy they were. Coffee was delicious, service was excellent. Oh, and the toilet is hidden behind a book case. Fun.
To fluffy for me but really good none the less just not there is always a line!
They serve amazing soufflé pancakes. It's like eating clouds!! I expected a long queue, but on a Friday morning, 10.45am I was served straight away and got the pancakes within 10 minutes. They have very friendly staff and an English menu. It's pricey (I paid 1350Y for a plate of pancakes with sauce and granola) but that seems to be a normal price for fluffy pancakes in Tokyo. And it's a generous serving and kept me full all day long.
Light, fluffy and good while clean in taste (not eggy at all). Would recommend going for a fruit based option as the syrup for the traditional pancakes is a bit on the bitter side for my liking, nonetheless the pancakes stand on their own with no syrup. No frills service as well.
I really enjoyed the pancake that I got here. I got the pancake with the “milk tea sauce” and a scoop of ice cream and we were thoroughly pleased. Very tasty. One order is definitely enough to share between two people.
Great fluffy pancakes! Nice and cosy environment to chill after a long shopping session. Will be back again next time.
Took over 25 mins after ordering to recieve my meal, which I felt was a long while compared to other experiences at Happy Panckake. The restaurant was not busy either. Staff were very friendly and accommodating for my English speaking self :) Good good & service
Nice place to eat pancake in shibuya. Soft and puffy, remember always to take a version with topping
Simply for us the best Japanese pancakes while we recently visited the country. Super fluffy and tasty. If you want to have Japanese pancakes then this is the place to go.
Lovely souffle pancakes! They're a bit on the eggy tasting side so if you're not a fan of that I recommend getting pancakes with a sauce to mask that a bit!.Banana milk is nice too :)
When you are in Japan you can't miss their fluffy pancakes! This place is located just few minutes walking from Shibuya crossing and it's a must visit. The pancakes are so delicious and you will definitely love it. You won't find signs of it from the road though, look for the japanese name, you access through stairs on the side of a building
We were seated within 20 mins for the 6 of us. Food came pretty fast. The pancakes were delicious.
Wonderful little pancake place tucked away on the 3rd floor. Decor is dainty and some of the staff speak English. The food was delicious. You can watch the chefs making them through the glass.
Got there at 6:30PM on a Friday to avoid the crowd, and indeed there was almost no one, so no line for me. I ordered the Cheese mousse pancake with berry sauce and it came approx 10 min later (mind you, I was alone so I didn't need to wait for someone else's order too). The pancake was everything I wanted; sweet, a bit sour from the berry sauce and FLUFFY! Sure it was a bit on the expensive side, but well worth it as the portion is quite big (at least for me) and delicious. The staff was really nice. The place was on the 3rd floor, you can either go up the stairs or take the elevator. Anyway, I loved it and would recommend it!
Yummmo! When we went early one morn there were no lineups and we got a seat very quickly and got our food <15mins. I ate the banana and hot choc pancakes, and they were so fluffy and airy, definitely worth the hype. Great pancakes, thank you!
It waa yummy! But they're wheat pancake tasted a little bit burnt with maple syrup. But their dessert pancakes were really good.
I went with my wife and toddler first thing when they opened at 10:30 in a weekday so we didn't have to wait in line. It was a bit hard to find, but when you get to the address that Google brings you to, try looking up. There's a set of stairs and an elevator that brings you up to the 3rd floor where the restaurant is. If there is a lineup, don't forget that there is a sign up sheet near the elevator on the third floor. The place was clean and had a cool look. The service was good as well. The food was only alright, we had the classic pancakes and the banana chocolate pancakes and they were both tasty. The chocolate was on the bitter side if that's important to you. And while our experience was fine, I just wouldn't go out of my way or wait in line for this. Being Canadian, we have some far superior pancakes, with far superior Maple syrup. The novelty of being super soft and jiggly does not translate directly to amazing taste.
